Engine oils and lubricants are a vital part of our vehicle and we should change it regularly after a proper recommended interval. It keeps the engine of our car in a better condition and prevents it from getting damaged. There is a myth in the market which few of us believe and we attempt an oil change after every 3,000 kilometers of distance traveled.

But in reality, it is not required. The oil should be changed after every 6,000 to 7,000 kilometers when it is in new condition and after it gets old, the oil change should be done after every 5,000 to 6,000 kilometers. The user manual of the vehicle has all the required information and suggestions regarding the oil change but very few of us take out some time to read those.

After an oil change we never think about the burnt oil. We leave it with the mechanic or in the garage. If proper disposal is not done for those, they can be very hazardous. It can cause immense ecological damage because it is insoluble. It remains in its original form for a long time in the environment.

The burnt engine oils contain heavy toxic substances and heavy metal partials. One single gallon of the burnt engine oil can damage a thousand gallons of underground drinking water and can make it poisonous. Surprisingly, only the state of California generates around 154 million gallons of burnt engine oil every year and less than 60% of which are properly disposed and recycled.
