An auction takes place when an item or valuable is set for bidding and is finally sold to the person with the highest bid. This practice has become increasingly common, after being established first as early as 500 B.C. After various art pieces and collectibles auctions taking place, house auctions have become increasingly common over a short period of time and are greatly practiced in the west.

Houses can be sold and bought at an auction and it is here that one is most likely to avail the great deal they have always been looking for while buying their house. Before the house is open to be auctioned, a date and time is set in order to let interested clients take a look around the house they shall soon be bidding for.

Firstly, one should call their area auctioneer and tell them they want to be placed on their mailing list. They will then receive fliers and relevant details time to time, and prior notices will be sent about any upcoming house auctions. Notices are also published in newspapers approximately one week before the auction is to take place.

One should reach the house being auctioned at least half an hour before the auction begins if they wish to take part in the bidding process. After providing relevant required information and identification, the bidder receives a bidder number. While bidding, one should allow the auctioneer to drop the amount as low as possible and then raise their bidder number high in the air, when a price suitable to them is in question.

The bidder who wins must pay the auctioneer a 10 to 20 percent commission above the original price of the house. One should know what their highest bid is going to be and set a relevant budget so that they can avoid getting stuck paying more than they could or originally intended to.
